Get DragonCommand Running
What you need to know before Early Access opens — requirements, deployment scenarios, and how it fits into a grid you already have running.
System Requirements
Your DragonCommand Server
- Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (or similar Debian-based)
- Node.js v20+
- PostgreSQL 16
- Nginx + Certbot for SSL
- Runs comfortably on a $3–6/mo VPS for small-to-mid grids
Your Existing Grid
- An OpenSimulator Robust server, already running
- MySQL or MariaDB (whatever your Robust install already uses)
- No changes to your existing grid database structure
- No Docker required, on either side
Three Ways to Deploy
DragonCommand never needs your OpenSim console exposed to the internet — it's always the secure proxy in front of it.
On the Robust Server
The most common setup. DragonCommand installs directly on the same box as Robust and talks to it over localhost — no networking to configure at all.
Home Server + Tailscale
Running your grid from home? DragonCommand can live on a cheap VPS and reach your Robust server through a Tailscale mesh, no port forwarding required.
Enterprise Multi-Server
For larger grids running Robust and region servers across multiple machines, DragonCommand connects over your existing internal network.
Works With Any OpenSim Install
Environment & Secrets
Every install is configured through a single .env file — nothing is hardcoded, nothing is committed to the repo.
